For me, it’s part of who I am – almost a habit like brushing my teeth. Though I wish it was as easy as that. This concept however is definitely trickier, and easier NOT to do, as efforts do not always seem immediate.
I know often times when we have good intentions, we are excited, motivated and ready for change! We start, we make progress and then the inevitable happens. We start taking score a bit too soon. I mean it’s ‘normal’ from the standpoint that it’s our human nature and how most of us have been programmed to function. I mean…why would one continue on with something if nothing seems to be changing?
And yet soooo very often it’s times like this when it really is happening under the radar and because we don’t see it happening NOW, or soon – we start second guessing, doubting and our resolve starts to falter.
I’ve done this over my lifetime. I mean, haven’t we all? Granted there are times when it’s no big deal to throw in the towel. Somethings really do NOT suit us and we are well within our rights to just say, hey…this is silly, why am I beating myself up over this?
Yet there are many things, many of them more personal to us that we really DO want to see change or improve. A better relationship with someone or a nice new one. A better situation at work, or simply a better job. Learning something new or a hobby that you’ve always wanted to try. A healthier body or physical improvements to strengthen us or test our capabilities. For me these are areas that boost my overall morale about myself and my life. These are the things that fuel me to embrace more of who I am.
Yes these are all a bit ‘deeper’ in the scheme of life – but well, I’ve always been a deep thinker. Questioning things, curious about things, wanting more – expanding who I am and wanting to know how to do just that.
So yes for me Attitude can be everything, as when I take the time to foster that in myself, all of the things that I label as important to me start to happen – and opportunities show up, ideas come to mind and eagerness is how I feel when I wake up in the morning.
Needless to say, with recent improvements that Heather and I are wanting for ourselves as this year progresses….I’m going to make sure that my attitude and how I foster that each day is as important as the meals I’m planning, the exercises or movement I do each day.
